June 2024: Thirteen students were able to complete the Practice Your Age challenge. Over a 6 week period, they needed to log their practice time and have a total of their age times 100. It was tough, only 13 out of 31 did it! Congrats to Abby, Andrew B, Ezra, Grace, Henry, Izzy, James, Juliet, Oliver G, Sebastian, Thayer, Thomas, and Toben.

April 27, 2024: At the annual Piano Club competition, Henry was named 2nd place in the elementary division, Andrew B was named 3rd in the intermediate division, and Izzy took 1st place in the intermediate division. Proud of all 3 of you!

March 16, 2024: Eleven students participated in the annual Student Achievement Testing day sponsored by the Michigan Music Teachers' Association and the Holland Piano Teachers' Forum. They are: Andrew B, Henry, Olive, Oliver G, Sebastian, Oliver R, Izzy, Naomi, Ezra, Wyatt, and Andrew R. All earned scores in the 90's! Congrats to all for working hard and really achieving a high level of success! Some of them qualified to compete at Semi-Finals if they want to: Olive, Izzy, Ezra and Andrew R. Many also earned a spot on the Honor's Recital in April.

May 6: Andrew R and Nathan competed in the State Finals of the Michigan Music Teachers' Association. A great accomplishment just to get there! and Nathan received an Honorable Mention. Congrats to both!!
April 29: Three of my students competed in the Holland Piano Club competition, they performed 2 memorized solos for a judge and an audience. All three were named winners: Andrew B took 1st place in the elementary division, Lukas took 2nd place in the senior division, and Nathan took 1st place in the senior division. So proud of you all!
April 22: 3 students competed in the Michigan Music Teachers' Association Semi Finals at Calvin University: Izzy, Nathan, and Andrew R. Nathan and Andrew were chosen as finalists. They will compete in the Michagan state finals May 6. Congratulations!!
April 17, 2023: Honors Recital: this a special recital hosted by the Holland Piano Teachers' Forum where the top scoring students from the March SAT are invited to perform. They were all well prepared and did a great job!

June 5, 2021: 32 students were able to play in a live, in-person recital! It was such a pleasure to be able to share our music with their families. Another 11 students were unable to attend the recital but were included in a youtube recital. Everyone performed a memorized solo and a duet either with me or a family member. Thanks to the parents and older siblings who played the duets, it's really fun to play together.

Those were successfully completed the challenge received a gift certificate for a local ice cream shop. Next year, back to normal? 21 student from my studio performed 3 memorized pieces, took a written theory test, and were tested in technique, sight reading, and aural skills. Participating students were: Brandon, Megan, Andrew B, Hannah, Zach, Olive, AnnaJoyce, AmySue, Paige, Nathan, Joshua, Shamirah, Katrina, Oliver, Sophie, Andrew R, Elise, Isabella, Julia, Lucy, and William. Congratulations to everyone, your hard work paid off in very good scores.
January 9, 2021: Brandon was the first place winner in the annual Norbert Mueller Concerto Competition held by the Holland Symphony Orchestra. He performed the first movement of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto #1 in g minor. Each year, the competition winner receives a cash prize and the opportunity to perform their concerto with the Holland Symphony Orchestra. Awesome accomplishment, Brandon!
From November through early December, the students were challenged to practice 30 days out of 35, encouraging them to play almost every day and see what progress they would make. It was a tough challenge but 22 of them were able to do it! Unfortunately, all the March and April piano events were cancelled due to the coronavirus. Twenty of my students were able to complete their Michigan Music Teachers' Association sponsored Student Achievement Day Tests in studio/online. They are: Brandon, Megan, Hannah, Adrian, Olive, Jaewoo, AmySue, AnnaJoyce, Jonathan, BeretAnna, Paige, Maggie, Isaiah, Joshua, Katrina, Shamirah, Izzy S, Amelia, Evelyn, and William. Congratulations to everyone for sticking with it during these hard times!
